Lattice Boltzmann Methods

Particle-based methods for fluid flow simulation.

This section explores Lattice Boltzmann Methods (LBM). Instead of solving the Navier-Stokes equations directly, LBM models the fluid as fictive particles performing consecutive propagation and collision processes over a discrete lattice mesh.

Starting Points & Planned Examples

  • D2Q9 lattice model
  • Collision and streaming steps
  • BGK relaxation approximations
  • Boundary conditions (bounce-back, etc.)
  • Channel and lid-driven cavity prototypes
